Financial Aid and Fashion Shows
Gracie's birthday went well. We all went to CiCi's and I decorated the table. I eagerly watched the window for her to come. I met Chip - one of mom's friends that night as well. We all ate and had a good time talking.
(27th) The next day I had my big interview. I'll have to admit- I was a little nervous. This time it was with three employers - Rob Ritz, Angel Randolph, and Angie Travis. They all seemed to want different answers to the same questions. I stumbled through it for forty five minutes and dismissed everyone with a handshake. I thought I did terribly. To my surprise, ten minutes later I got a knock on my door from a blonde lady. "Are you Carrie? Rob would like to see you in his office in half an hour." My heart raced. This could be it. I waited and waited behind my little round table in Jay's office. This would be amazing - free tuition - insurance - money. We'd be set.
Thirty minutes later, I was back in the hot seat.
"Carrie, you've been offered two positions. You interviewed very well, and..."
Whatever he said next is a mystery to me. All I heard was, "You did it! No more Dominos! Everything is going to be fine! YOU HAVE A JOB!" I tried hard to keep from crying.
Rob then took me on a tour around FinAid, asking workers to show me what they were doing. All of them stuttered and blushed their way through a brief explanation. I kept wondering where I would sit.
"So, think it over this weekend and let me know."
I was on cloud nine.
I walked into dad's office after that and said, "Well, your daughter has insurance." He was happy.
When I got back to Jay's office, I texted a few people to tell them the news - but not to tell Casey. Connie cried. Paige was excited. Kurt said Casey was going to be a stay-at-home dad. =)
That night was Gracie's party. Bob dropped me off at the nail place (after parking on the curb) and I greeted Beth, Katie, and Grace. Mom and I talked about the job and she ordered me to get my nails and eyebrows taken care of in celebration. =) It was a hectic night for sure! Casey helped by putting up with all the stresses and getting Dominos. Mom did her best to help them all have fun. We let them play for a while when we returned home. They ransacked my room. Mom ordered a special "HSM 3" cake from Madison Heights, so Casey and I got to make a trip to get it . I didn't mind- I was ready to tell him the news! Dad nugged me before we left and said, "Did you tell him?" It was cute. He was excited for us.We got in the car and he brought up the interview on the way down Candler's Mountain. He said, "Financial Aid gets to hire you now." And I replied, "You mean, they hired." =) He was all smiles for the rest of the ride. We joked about how rich we were going to be. What a happy time! We flirted and joked in the WalMart. Nothing could bring us down at this point. We were on cloud nine.
The rest of the night was full of cheesy songs, Troy Bolton, popcorn, a scavenger hunt for a sleeping bag, and a fashion show conducted by Casey. That part was actually pretty cute. Casey got the boom box on the table and they would walk into the den where we were. "Now, entering the arena...Beth!" =)
(28)The next day was equally fun. We decided to eat a celebratory meal at Olive Garden. We had to wait for a while, so we sat an leaned on each other for a while. Our waitress told us we were "very cute." We ate until we were stuffed and got a desert afterwards. We decided to try a new chocolate cake. Good, but rich. Then Casey and I made a trip to the mall to get me a new wardrobe! Talk about exciting! It was - adorable. I told a lady I was starting a new job - so she helped me a lot. I told her I was either a six or a four -but she came back with size 2's! Automatic self-esteem boost. =) When I came out wearing the first outfit (size 2 pants and a purple shirt w/purple carnagan), Casey's eyes popped and he said, "Get it. Get it. We're getting it." <3 He loved almost everything I tried on. He even picked out a few shirts! I overheard him talking to the lady, "She likes red. And blues. She'll need an undershirt with that one..." He's so adorable. He couldn't keep his hands off me! We finally made it to checkout after he had patiently waited for me to get changed back in my clothes. We eventually had to look at price tags - but that didn't sway us much. We spent 250 dollars! LOL. Casey had even thrown in a set of purple earrings. Wonderful day!
The last few days have been full of gratitude, excitement, and happiness. (And a very awkward visit from Newman).
(April 1) Today was great. I got up - went to the gym - had tea with Alicia (MY NEW FAVORITE!), came back to the house, picked up a little bit, showered, came to work, and here I am. I feel great. I've been in a postive mood all day - probably because of a mixture of tea and exercising. Today, while walking over to North Cafe to get more tea, Rob stopped me. He said he was wrong- I was getting 26,000 instead of 24,000. GOD IS SO GOOD. I did a very poor job of wording this entire post - but hopefully my excitement and happiness and shown through. God just keeps blessing us. Now, we can go on a real honeymoon! We've decided that if we don't win the Groomzilla contest, we will go to Sandals anyway. Afterall, it's our stinkin' honeymoon! We only get one =)
Another cute thing I will want to remember is Casey throwing the softball with Gracie in the yard. Can't wait until that's our kid. =) He's going to be a great dad.
Got to visit mom at LCA. She showed me off. The Middle School principal had pics of me in my wedding dress...aww...

"baby i cant sleep
i tried calling you.. i'm thinking of coming over but am probably not safe to drive.
and i have to work late tomorrow.
dont hang up on me again, and i promise to call back next time... i'm upset."
Waking up to such a heartfelt and desperate message was, for some reason, surprisingly enjoyable. Not because Casey was upset, or because I relish in his misery. I loved it because I felt needed. See, Casey is generally a very independent man. It took months before he dared communicating how he felt to me. He is naturally very closed and secretive about emotion and feelings;
But in this message - this sweet, delicate message - Casey needed me. He was upset and longing to be with me.
And now, he is at Dominos - most likely needing an asprin and a pepsi.
I've decided to start a three day fast tomorrow. I am fasting for a job. I will desperately cry out to God and beg him to grant me a full time job at Liberty. I will thank Him for everything He has provided me and tell Him how much I would appreciate a staff position. I wanted to do a seven day fast but Casey said I should not start out so fast.
Maybe God wants to feel needed just as I did. Perhaps God is expecting a message of desperation. It is about time that I let Him know just how much I need Him.
And Lord, I do need You. And You are All I need.
On a more lighter note, yesterday was Gracie's birthday. Her most favorite day of the year =) I decorated our table at CiCi's and bought a cake to put on it. I think she had a great time - but her real birthday party is tomorrow. Two or three girls are coming over for a HSM party and a trip to get their nails painted. <3
I skipped my first class today, left the second class early, and skipped the third. I was feeling extremely lazy. Afterall, I've only missed one class this entire semester. It was nice. Casey and I got to go to the mall and shop for rings and PAGEANT dresses. (Another one of my fleeting fantasy's....MRS. VIRGINIA!) We ran into Shane at the food court. We listened intently as he rambled on about the signs of pregnancy and what it has been like. For some reason, it just cannot sit in that Anna is having a baby. I pray this won't happen that soon for us.
Gracie is bowling tonight. I'm sure I've already recorded about bowling last week, but if I haven't, it was precious. Casey taught her how to throw it and she thought it would be just like Wii. =) She had a blast. I was proud of Casey, too. In the beginning he was shy at sat at a back table. By the end of the night, he was cheering for the other kids and interacting. =) I won't forget it.
I've been extremely tired lately - and today I was even dizzy. It was as if I had vertigo. I want to say it is because I need more sleep - but I've been getting what I normally do. Perhaps stress?
I want to pray for:
Dr. Croteau (sick)
Ashley (contentment)
Grace (she'l have fun tomorrow)
We were published in the Orlando Sentinel. So funny. =) http://www.orlandosentinel.com/features/lifestyle/orl-livgroom3032609mar26,0,2449159.story
We found out if we win the contest in April. We'll see!
We also met with Mark and Debbie again in their camper. I was so tired - and nervous. But we had cake and everything was great. We sort of decided that if we went to the camp, it wouldn't be until next fall. We'll see what ends up happening. I think at this point, Casey still wants to go more than I do.
Alright - I suppose I should do something useful and pick up the house for tomorrow =)

Love Shack and Appalachian Trail
I'm attempting to post something before 5:00 today. At the moment it is 4:23 so we will see how much I get in.
Let's see -
March 8th - Bridal Show at Cattle Annies! That was so much fun. I am considering modeling wedding dresses now! Gracie had a great time getting to see everything - she even danced her heart out during the run way show. =) We got a few more things for the wedding - quartet, videographer. I'm so excited.
Spring Break = amazing. Had an awesome and memorable time with GG and GD. We spent the first night on the pourch talking about wedding stuff on our new recliners that they've decided to give me and Casey. One night I scared GD by hiding behind his bed. Glad he didn't take off his pants! Gran Gran and I had a fun time - she made fun of me getting up late =) Gran Gran also ate her first snack wrap from McD's. I recorded GD on my phone saying the blessing. =) I tried on my wedding dress several times for different people. GG and GD took pics - I love it! And I love them. It was a great time. GranDaddy wanted to take the camera to work and show everyone. Once while we were getting into the car to go to Dills, GG told me to get some aluminum foil. Grabbing the first aluminum foil that I saw, I made my way back to the car. GD, from his reclining chair, gave me a funny look. GG goes, "What did you bring the cake for?!" Haha. I guess she just wanted the plain foil. =) The week was filled with me teaching GG how to text, plenty of stops at the McD's, a trip to commerce to listen to Grampa rant about Sue, laughing with GG and GD, late nights watching TV, a trip to Cracker Barrel to see the family, talks of travel with Buck and Emma on the rockers, trying to get Buck to sleep with me, and wedding planning. It was perfect. Gr
GROOMZILLA! Haha...I got an email about a contest so I quickly filled it out and sent it. Turns out that they loved Casey and wanted more pics of him! Long story short, there is now an article about Casey up on the internet and we will know if we won a free honeymoon on April 17th! Can't wait.
March 17 - WE SIGNED THE LEASE! We ate lunch with Miss Tyree and it was done! The Love Shack is ours! I'm so excited.
We have decided that we want to hike the Appalachian Trail. Casey has been camping more and more and pitched the idea to me a few days ago. Yesterday though, the 22nd, I said I wanted to as well and we began thinking seriously about it. How exciting is that?! It will def. be challenging but I'm up for it.
Jobs! I had an interview for Course Editor on Friday the 20th. It went very well. Thank you, Jay! It would be incredible if God gave me this job. It would be SUCH a huge blessing. Whatever your will be, Lord. I have another interview with a few more people on Friday. We'll see what happens! I'll take what I can get. Right now it appears that Casey will be going to school full time and I will be working/school. Interesting, but it works. =)
Tonight we meet with Mark Witt to talk about PA. I really just don't feel good about it, but we'll see.
I thought I had mentioned that I got a new wedding dress in my last post, but apparently I didn't. I'll most certainly remember it! I cried the entire way there. It was hard to tell mom and dad I wanted a new one. They were concerned I wasn't sure about marriage. We went anyway - and it was SO worth it. I tried on several before Cindy brought one out. I didn't think I'd like it, but when I tried it on, I LOVED it. Mom and Dad both loved it as well. It was just...perfect. I have tried it on SO many times since then! =) It's just amazing. Bye bye, gathers!
Things have been great between Casey and I. I love him to death. Counseling has been awesome - it really opens us up and shows us things. I'm really praying we get a job at Liberty - he would be able to quit Dominos. It's been getting more and more frustrating for him, it seems. :/
Gracie's Birthday is soon. Casey and I had a date day yesterday and went to Water Stone, downtown to our spot, and to walmart to get her a sleeping bag =) While we were at Water Stone, we laughed and played the whole time. He blew a fart my way, I made "the face," we argued over who would eat the crust, talked and just had fun. =) When Casey went to the bathroom, he knocked on the door and someone was in there. When he heard that person coming out, he quickly walked over to a corner so the person wouldn't recognize him. Just thought it was cute. =)
I need to start working out again. =) I am going to start very soon. Tonight, I am distracted by Bible 350 and the meeting. But soon.
Ash came up this weekend while the boys were hiking. We had so much fun! We went to Roankoke and ate a very filling Mexican dinner, and then we were off to David's to "get my dress altered." Her jaw dropped and eyes popped when I told the consultant, "Yes, we're here for a five thirty bridesmaid fitting...." =) It was awesome. The lady altering my dress told me she wants a video of the reception. (I was a little hyper).
Tonight Bob gets home from Claire's. Feels like he's down there every weekend now.

Up in the Air
Visit to Richmond.
We took a "surprise" visit to Richmond. His mom expected it. We drove there and then crept up on the back porch. Viv wasn't impressed. Put on a show for Family. I played the bongos. Ate bad food. Saw the Neal's! Very fun. Woke the girls up in the bedroom upstairs. Talked about wedding stuff. Drove back.
That Weekend.
Claire was at the house. She made Bobby cupcakes. I told everyone I wanted a new wedding dress. Claire, Bob and I went to David's that night. I tried on a few, and so did Claire. She looked great in the beachy one. I decided i liked the mermaid style. Crazy. Tried to eat at Olive Garden. Thirty minute wait. Never mind! Ate somewhere else instead. Got appetizers and one horrible waitress. Left two napkin notes complaining. It was funny! Felt bad about it later though. Went to church then to David's with mom and dad. Cried the whole way there. Had a good time shopping though - found the perfect one. =) I love it. Casey will too. <3 Feel much better.
Bob's Bday.
Bought a cake. Football 19! Went to work. Went to mall with Casey. Had fun! He got me a surprise. A pumice stone! Bob told me he asked for a heart shaped one. I love him. Went to Walmart. Got decorations and gifts. Gracie picked out HSM card that sang. Tried to talk her out of it. Gave in. Was excited for dinner! Got to Logan's. Decorated table. Blew up balloons with Grace. Everyone else came. Not Casey - he was working. I missed him. Bob wasn't surprised! But he liked it. =) Gave him his gifts. He liked those too. He thought his cake was funny. Good night!
This Weekend.
Drove to PA. Had a fight in the car. Casey slept. Got there. Felt weird. Left. Came back second time. Casey carried me across the mud. People were nice. We ate dinner. Tacos. Got a tour of the camp. Gorgeous. And muddy. Casey went into the barn and was near horses for the first time. We were both scared. Blackjack bit everyone. Saw Seven Springs. Beautiful. Campers arrived. We felt weird. Hung in barn and learned archery from Jimmy. Still felt weird. Dinner. Service was good. Went to group meetting. I became a counselor. Did a devo with individual campers. Became "The Lost Boys." Didn't sleep much. Woke up. Went to prayer meeting. Did go-carts and horses. Casey was cute. Couldn't stop smiling. Horses were scary. We got Blackjack. Had evening service. Got to talk to staff. Met with Mark and Deb for three hours. Had a two hour conversation about words with The Lost Boys. Oil or Oil? Left. Unsure about whether we want to be there. Good place though. Drive back was fun. Cold. We were tired. Spent 16 dollars at gas station. Oops. Ran into snow near Lynchburg. Slid around. Car wouldn't stop when we tried to pull into Liberty Village. Parked in a ditch. Walked to the house in the snow. Our first kiss in a lot of snow like that.
SNOW DAY 3/3/09
Woke up. Hoped I didn't miss Gracie in the snow. I didn't =) Got dressed and went out there. Hoped Casey would come. Built half of an igloo and sled with Mom and Gracie. It was fun! Casey came out there with Bob. Made a ramp. Gracie's shoe came off. I rescued her. Her shoe came off again. Dang it. I took her inside. Ate lunch. Attempted to make igloo again. Failed. Spend the rest of the day inside with Sugar. Casey broke sleds. It's ok though.
Tuesday.
Casey's car was broken into. No more GPS. Met Ryan for study time at Tilly. Made a good grade on exam. Hopefully. Had good dinner mom made. Missed Casey. Dad asked me the best part of my day. I said the exam. I need a haircut.
Today.
Woke up. Tired. Wanted to sleep in. Got up. Got Buck out of the shower to get my hair tie. Went to starbucks. Was almost late. Casey called and asked if I wanted a chicken biscuit. I said no. Did our counseling homework with Casey. Got our favorite drink with the card I gave Bob. Casey gave me a biscuit. I was glad! Went to counseling. Was almost late. Chuck and Jo talked about section one and two. We opened up a lot. Talked about Casey not doing things and me nagging. Sock basket stays! I love Casey. I told him I wanted us to do what Chuck and Jo do. Chuck mentioned a job in Oklahoma. Good but far away. Been working today. Saw Bob. Glad he has a job now. Praise the Lord. Buck got in to UVA program. Awesome! Called for haircut. Going tonight.
Yep. Been good. Just stressed about what to do with ourselves. Trying to get Casey finished with school. So many possibilities. I'm really enjoying counseling. Even our Sunday School class is getting better. Casey spoke out and it was good. He talked about making changes when you see what you need to do better.
Snow day was awesome. Gracie loved it. =)
Tonight Gracie sings at church. Should be sweet.
Life is all up in the air, but God is faithful.
We took a "surprise" visit to Richmond. His mom expected it. We drove there and then crept up on the back porch. Viv wasn't impressed. Put on a show for Family. I played the bongos. Ate bad food. Saw the Neal's! Very fun. Woke the girls up in the bedroom upstairs. Talked about wedding stuff. Drove back.
That Weekend.
Claire was at the house. She made Bobby cupcakes. I told everyone I wanted a new wedding dress. Claire, Bob and I went to David's that night. I tried on a few, and so did Claire. She looked great in the beachy one. I decided i liked the mermaid style. Crazy. Tried to eat at Olive Garden. Thirty minute wait. Never mind! Ate somewhere else instead. Got appetizers and one horrible waitress. Left two napkin notes complaining. It was funny! Felt bad about it later though. Went to church then to David's with mom and dad. Cried the whole way there. Had a good time shopping though - found the perfect one. =) I love it. Casey will too. <3 Feel much better.
Bob's Bday.
Bought a cake. Football 19! Went to work. Went to mall with Casey. Had fun! He got me a surprise. A pumice stone! Bob told me he asked for a heart shaped one. I love him. Went to Walmart. Got decorations and gifts. Gracie picked out HSM card that sang. Tried to talk her out of it. Gave in. Was excited for dinner! Got to Logan's. Decorated table. Blew up balloons with Grace. Everyone else came. Not Casey - he was working. I missed him. Bob wasn't surprised! But he liked it. =) Gave him his gifts. He liked those too. He thought his cake was funny. Good night!
This Weekend.
Drove to PA. Had a fight in the car. Casey slept. Got there. Felt weird. Left. Came back second time. Casey carried me across the mud. People were nice. We ate dinner. Tacos. Got a tour of the camp. Gorgeous. And muddy. Casey went into the barn and was near horses for the first time. We were both scared. Blackjack bit everyone. Saw Seven Springs. Beautiful. Campers arrived. We felt weird. Hung in barn and learned archery from Jimmy. Still felt weird. Dinner. Service was good. Went to group meetting. I became a counselor. Did a devo with individual campers. Became "The Lost Boys." Didn't sleep much. Woke up. Went to prayer meeting. Did go-carts and horses. Casey was cute. Couldn't stop smiling. Horses were scary. We got Blackjack. Had evening service. Got to talk to staff. My Greatest Enemy is Myself
When I started making this blog, my goal was to be able to look back at my life and see all the negative vices that have attempted to throw me off. By doing so, I would remember God's faithfulness. Instead, I write today not about exterior circumstances that have plotted against me from the outside, but of interior and more deadly.
So often I can look at the world from a perspective of me as the white knight on a horse, and the world as all the tree trunks that get in my way. In reality, it is quite the opposite. So often I find that my greatest enemy is myself. My sins, my faults, my shortcomings. My temper, my selfishness. The list could go on and on. Most certainly, the very last thing I should be worried of is what the world throws my way! Indeed, I should be far more concerned with the toxic waste that is my heart and mind. I'm reminded of these verses:
Jeremiah 17:9, "The heart is deceitful above all things."
Romans 17:8, "For I know that no good dwells in me, my flesh.."
Eph. 2:3 "We were children of wrath by nature"
Our greatest enemy is the sin that lies within us. Not the devil, not other people, and most certainly not exterior circumstances. It is a battle we should be well equipped for and ready to fight every waking hour.
The quote my blog was named after says, "He who has a why to live can bear most any how." My reason for living is to glorify God. Can God really accomplish my purpose through the "how" that is my sin?
The very best we can do is desperately pray for God's mercy, redemption, and healing.
I will be doing that much today.

"Det up, Bear"
Suddenly saddened by the truth that Saturday the 14th, 2009 was my last Valentines Day with the family, I rushed out of the house. I was on my way to the Mothership for college kids, homeless people, and moms all over the country: WalMart. The only place that was open at such a late hour. My mission was to surprise my family with a Valentine's Day Brunch when they woke up. As I somewhat groggily rolled the buggy up and down the aisles, I grabbed anything pink or red. My vision of the next morning grew more elaborate withe every new item I threw in the buggy. I could just see Gracie's face as she saw all the balloons and food.
One hour turned into two, and my eyes became heavy. Before I realized it, it was three am. Just before I decided I had enough, a familiar voice said hello. I recognized it right away. It was Professor Brasher. If it had not been for my uncanny fashion sense, I would not had been embarrassed. But there is something not right about standing in front of a grown man wearing Victoria's Secret pants that may or may not show your underwear through them. My hair was a mess, I had no makeup on, and I was wearing uggs. Perfect. I'm sure my face was a little red.
After that slightly awkward run in, I decided it was time to leave.
The rest of my night was followed by setting the table, hanging streamers, and painfully blowing around thirty balloons. As I sat on the floor with my legs sprawled grasping for my last breath of air that would be blown into the last balloon, I closed my eyes. I almost fell asleep right there on the floor. It was five am.
I woke up to Gracie's voice. "Happy Vat'nines Day, Bear. Det up." I smelled bacon. It then hit me. The food was already made. My morning brunch didn't go exactly as planned, but I think they still enjoyed it. Casey came later and we took Gracie to the park. She's growing up faster than we all think. She wasn't interesting in the playground much - she wanted to hang out with Casey and me. Time for the teenage years, I suppose.
Casey and I went to Starbucks later and it was great. We were laughing and cutting up - just like we were when we first started dating. We have both been stressed lately so it was good to get out by ourselves and drink our favorite mocha. I love him.
He had to work later, but I had my evening planned already. Savannah time! I drove straight from starbucks to her house. We had planned to see "The Crucible." Once we got to the play we were having such a good conversation that we sat in the car until we felt it was time to go in. Then we saw several people waiting near the ticket booth trying to get in. We ourselves didn't want to see it that badly, so we sold back our tickets and went to Little Cucci's. It was a time of talking, encouraging, being honest with each other, and laughing. We also continue to be amazing at how similar we are, and how similar our spouses are. Funny how God works. We visited Casey and Ben (I got two hugs!) and were off to see "Seven Pounds." I loved that movie. She hated it.
When we finally made it back to her house, we decided to put in the tape of her wedding. I can't wait for mine! I got to see Casey give his speech and it was adorable. <3
Yesterday I woke up and called Casey to remind him it was Sunday School day. He sounded half asleep! I asked him if he knew what today was, and he said, "Saturday?" Ugh! He had slept in. He said he'd be there in twenty minutes. Because I knew he would be late, I decided I'd sleep in too.
As it turns out, he was just kidding. He came into my room about three minutes later. The nerve! =)
Sunday school was good - Casey finally answered a question and gave a thought. He said that people should look at things they need to fix in themselves through marriage and do it, not ignore it. I was proud. And although we still haven't opened our Bibles, yesterday's topic was about conforming to Christ through marriage. It was good.
We had another date at Panera afterwards, and when we returned home, Bob asked me to go with him to pick out a ring for Claire. I was happy! I drove with him to the mall and we went to Kay Jewelers. We saw a couple we liked but decided to visit the other, more expensive places. When we learned exactly how rare it was to find prices that were in our budget, we made our way back to Kay. =) The ring he picked was very pretty. Casey came to but mysteriously left while we were browsing. As it turns out, he had gone to buy me a surprise. As Bob and I were leaving the mall, he called and told me to wait at the door for him so he could give it to me. =) I'm wearing the surprise right now.
Since I thought "Seven Pounds" was so good, I took Bob and Casey to see it as well. After a short stop to Dollar Tree to get candy to smuggle in, we were at the theater. It was good even the second time around.
Babysat Isabella that night. I had to drive another women home as well, who told me of homeopathic medicine. Perhaps Casey and I should look into that. Isabella and I arrived to her house and she showed me her hamsters. She is precious. =) We played games, read the Bible, and stayed up a little too late =) When I said her goodnight prayers, I was surprised. She not only prayed longer than I did, but she prayed for an array of people, including Janet. It was very encouraging. I want my kids to pray like her.
After getting lost trying to get home, I finally made it to bed. I am now at work and have just planned another lunch date with Amber and Eric at Thai 99. Casey is working and hasn't texted yet. I'm a little overwhelmed with life right now, but God is good.
Casey and I are still trying to decide many things. We have a lady calling us about signing a lease on a house and although we would hate to lose the house, we are hesitant to sign due to the fact we have no clue if we'll be in Lynchburg or not. At Panera we tossed around many possible scenarios, from working in Lynchburg, to volunteering in PA, to living in Ireland. So many options. Lord, give us wisdom!
I need to be focusing more on my grades, as Dad reminded me last night. So hard to do when I'm so distracted. My life right now feels like a million balls tossed in the air, all waiting to come right down on my head.
Casey texted me finally. He slept in and missed his shift - for real this time. I told him I felt dumb as well, because today the Bible Drive started and I forgot all about it. Buck put a couple boxes out for me, but it wasn't much. They don't even have signs. I'll do better tomorrow.
Prayer request would be for wisdom, for guidance, and for a clear pathway for Casey and I. It would also be for Ben and Savannah as they are also trying to figure out whether to go to FL or not. Dad and Mom need encouragement, and especially Bob. Bob has been down lately. Buck needs guidance as to what career path to take. Ashley Neal needs the prayer of contentment anew everyday. Dr. Kelly needs the joy of the Lord in a fresh way as well as the strength of the Lord.
Lord, thank you for being so great. I can't fathom why you choose to save me, but you do. I am so grateful for that. Fill me with you, Lord. Make me into the person you want me to be, no matter what that means. I lift up all the prayer request I just mentioned. I love you.
Amen.

It Worked!
The deep tissue massage helped! It was adorable. Casey was so excited to go. I woke up a little early this morning so that I could see him before he left. When I got to the office, all I could think about was how it felt and whether he was liking it or not. When he finally called, he said it was great and that his back was not in any pain. Finally!
I was proud of Casey today - he had an idea Jay loved about having an LU credit score. He's a smart un'.
Valentines day - perfect.
I got myself all spruced up the night of the 11th. It' s not often that I put on my little black dress, curled my hair, and even wear the heels that make my back hurt. I was getting a little nervous as I waited, and as soon as he knocked on the door my heart stopped. I looked up. He was wearing his green button up shirt and holding roses and chocolate. I melted. After he had taken a couple of minutes writing something poetic and romantic on the card (it ended up saying, "I love you more than steak"), we were off to Texas Steakhouse. We had to wait a while for our food to get there, and we were both eager to "open presents." So we went ahead and exchanged them =) I did well this year! He loved the massage.
I think the biggest surprise was my ring, though. As he gave me the box from across the table, my eyes widened. I was familiar to the style - it was the fourth Friedman's box I had received. I didn't blink once as my hands opened it from the front. My anticipation was quickly followed by disappointed. There was no ring! I should have known better, though. Right as I begin to question the situation, I noticed the sly smile Casey was trying to hide. It was on his finger - and it was gorgeous.
We had a fun time taking pictures and talking. Eventually we decided to go to the barn we had taken pictures at months before. When we got there, I made him close his eyes. I then went back to the trunk and pulled out his violin that had been waiting to be held by its owner. When I showed it to him, he automatically started to try and play it. To our dismay, no sound came out. We spent a few moments trying to figure out what we were doing wrong. He gently tried to reassure me that it was alright, we'd take it back. I was still upset though.
We then went home to the family. Our bellies were full and our hearts were flying. I was relieved that this year was not even close to being comparable to last. I got into my "frumpy clothes" and we just relaxed for the rest of the evening. Wonderful.
Last night was also fun. We decided to rent a movie, and after half an hour at Hollywood, we decided on "Along Came a Spider." My heart sank when I remembered that I didn't have my card, but right at the last minute, Casey remembered I had my worker ID. It was like a scene from James Bond - he looked at me quickly, grabbed the card from the pulley it was attached to and said, "Here...we've got the card." =)
When we finally got back home, he laid on the couch and I pulled the reclining chair beside him. This was a position I hope to use again in the future. Much more comfortable than trying to squeeze on the couch =) He liked the movie, too. We're hoping that we'll like the second movie we rented, "The Frighteners" just as much. I say, it is doubtful. I can always blame Casey if it stinks though. He's known for picking the good ones, like Grizzly Park. *cough cough*
Dad came by to see my office today. He didn't much appreciate my telling everyone he looked like Elvis.
Right now I think I weigh about three more pounds than I normally do. I ate Applebees with Eric Viets and Amber Short. It was wonderful! God used even that conversation to draw me into a deeper understanding of who He is. I hope we will make a routine out of our Friday lunch, however I do not wish to make a routine of ordering a hamburger taco. My size sixes would not appreciate it much, I don't think =)
We continue to pray for our potential move. We are listening for God's voice continually.
Work beckons.

Valentine's Day and Somerset, PA
Casey and I are celebrating Valentine's day today. We didn't feel like squeezing time for us in between Domino's runs this weekend, so we're off to get dinner tonight.
He doesn't know this yet, but I bought him a violin. He's been wanting to play one since he was three, according to Connie. I have been picturing his face when he sees it ever since I got it. I hope he will be surprised - that boy is too clever and normally figures out everything before I even come up with it.
Casey and I had an interview yesterday. It was very random, actually. I had to do homework for my Bible 350 class, but I brought the wrong book with me. I was upset that I had to go all the way across the street in the cold to get the right book, but decided I needed a good grade. I was just stepping into the bookstore when I saw tables set out in DeMoss. Camp Ministry booths! This was great. I stopped and talked to a couple of people about their camps but no one was hiring full time. Disheartened and almost at the end of my search, I was directed to a table called, "Teen Quest." And older couple was standing at either ends of the hall. I approached them and we began talking about the ministry. It sounded amazing! They ran a camp, took missions trips, and wanted to start a Bible institute. This was far too up the alley of Casey and me to ignore. I called and told Casey about it and he met with them as well. This eventually led to us leaving class early to go to the Wingate, a hotel near Liberty. We met with Debbie and Mark for an hour and a half, telling them our past experiences and future goals. Casey kept squeezing my hand very tightly; I could tell we were both a bit nervous. I couldn't help glancing at Casey every few seconds - he looked so amazing in his white button up shirt and gelled hair. I admired everything that was coming out of his mouth, right down to his occasional "ums" and "uhs." God had truly been preparing us both for ministry before we even met each other, and now here we were interviewing for a job that could take us in a million different directions. In the end, we shook hands and decided we'd have to take a weekend visit to the camp. We'll see how it goes! Casey and I are officially two potential Somerset residents =) Who knows what God will do.
Now, off to celebrate with my love.

The Lord is Good

January: Spent New Year's in Richmond
February: Broke up with Casey
March: Went on Spring Break with King's Players
April: Got together with Casey again
May: Spent time at home and prepared for tour
June: Time on tour was both incredible and incredibly hard
July: Came back home - got engaged
August-December: Planned wedding, got fired and hired, spent time with family
It was not nearly as dull as it seems. 2008 will be remembered as one of the most important years of my life. I felt impassable anger, heartache, indescribable happiness, and the love of God's hand stirring the shallow waters of my life.
I always used to wonder why adults dread birthdays so much. It seemed absurd that any human would want to be young again. Now I find myself at the age of twenty and desperately holding onto to every minute I'm given. I'd like to think that I am still young, and in some aspects, I know I am. But life is certainly passing me by much more quickly than I had planned. If I had the choice, I would start the whole thing over again, right from the beginning.
Yet, at the same time, there is a quiet calmness inside me that says I'm where I need to be. In the end, I wouldn't change where I am at for anything. This year I will be getting married and possibly moving away from my family. The new life I will be starting with Casey is full of unknowns and packed with uncertainty. It is a step I cannot wait to take.
The Lord is good.
